The role of the doctor in prescribing

The doctor plays a fundamental role: often a patient, informed by the pharmacist of an alternative to a branded product, asks his or her doctor for advice on the choice. The tendency to prescribe equivalent medicines is increasing as doctors realize that their use saves SSN a lot of money, but still guarantees appropriate therapy and good quality pharmaceutical assistance to the public.
